President, Ms. Jeya Padmanaban
Ms. Jeya Padmanaban (CV) is the president and founder of JP Research, Inc.. She has been a dominant figure in the automotive safety field for over 25 years, performing statistical research using field data and taking a leadership role in helping to direct vehicle safety research both in the United States and abroad. In addition, Ms. Padmanaban has been active in local community safety and educational programs, ranging from volunteering as a safety lecturer in schools to participating in the Safe Kids campaign. She has offered traffic safety seminars and lectures, developed injury profiles by location for local county EMS departments in California, and contributed to information exchanges through technical seminars around the globe.
- Awards and Recognition
The recipient of several awards for her work, including the 2001 SAE WEC BREED award for technical leadership for women, AAAM Best Scientific Paper award (1995), and SAE Transactions award (2005), she has been an invited guest lecturer at Stanford University, SAE, and a National Academy of Sciences Panel, and has been invited by NHTSA to present her research in Government / Industry meetings and data collection training seminars.
- Background and Memberships
Ms. Padmanaban holds an MS in Operations Research and Statistics and has been a member of the AAAM Board of Director, NHTSA Crashworthiness Subcommittee (1998) and the AAAM Scientific Program Committee (1995-1998), served on TOPTEC Safety Advisory Panels, and chaired several SAE sessions. She is a founding member of a consortium that includes Robert Bosch GmbH, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, and Toyota TCRD and was formed in 2011 to collect India crash data for a comprehensive new database called RASSI (Road Accident Sampling - India).
Ms. Padmanaban has also published extensively and has frequently evaluated NHTSA (and other) research and performed studies relating to rollovers, vehicle compatibility, injury risk, restraint system performance (front/rear seat belt effectiveness), and airbag safety performance. - Papers & Presentations
